In the beginning of the 80s when Baudoin Wart started posting on street hoardings, this sort of temporary publicity on non permanent surfaces was illegal. In the early 90s, with the support of a number of Montreal clients in the cultural field, Publicité Sauvage obtained a revision of the Règlement d’urbanisme de Montréal No. 5128 (art. 565), authorizing posting on hoardings around construction sites.
If we kept the name “Sauvage” (wild) in spite of our tameness, others do not hesitate to post on urban furniture and other illegal surface and even sometimes — it’s the reality of the medium —, on hoardings that we maintain. (See interruption of campaign.)
